late weekly
The week started with a holiday, making me all confused. I haven't touched the manuscript in a few days. And Hammy kept going: "How about now?" Nope, everything is still normal.

I have been doing my research about the next agent to query and it has made me come to the conclusion that the ugly scene at the beginning really needs work. No one is going to get excited reading that, so I might as well fix it before I submit it again. Going back over the stuff that I thought was done, makes me a little grumpy. That must be why I've avoided writing for a while. I better get back on the horse...

This is going to be a short week of work but lots of stuff to do. Tonight is D&D, still without that lucky bastard who is in Japan. Friday, my dad wants to take us out to lunch to celebrate his 65 years of existence and in the evening I'll kick off my new Adventure! campaign with some dear fiends. On Saturday, Remco and the guys will celebrate their B-days, and on Sunday I'll be off to the woods to play Ellenora in a Maerquin Kort.

So, first I fix it, then I submit it. Adding to that, I must say that the Online Writing Workshop is really worth the money, which is not all that much. When people say crit for crit, they mean it. And they take their time to tell me what they think about what I wrote in detail, while avoiding to hurt any feelings. It's nice to see a community with such solidarity. Which reminds me, I should really quit girl_gamers...

Tell me, if you want, about the online communities you're a part of. What do you like about them, and what don't you like?

I used to be part of online communities like forums. Now, not so much anymore. I'm a member of some Livejournal communities, that's about it.

One of my favorites is capslock_bleach. It's a fan community for Bleach, but the whole point is to not take anything seriously. You have to type in ALL CAPS, or else you get a penance (the first person to call you on typing lowercase gets to ask something, usually silly fanart). The community doesn't have any stupid drama from fans who take things too seriously.

abandonedplaces isn't a community I'm active in, but I love the photos of, well, abandoned places.

fatshionista is *awesome*. My favorite posts are of course the Outfit Of The Day, where fatties post photos of themselves looking amazing in great outfit, fashionable or no. It's very encouraging to see you can look good no matter what your size, to learn more about how to dress when you're fat. My only criticism is that it's too America-centric.

The last is wtf_sexism, which is a rather new community with its own difficulties. Things went all right until the community was in the Livejournal Spotlight, and then a whole lot of new members started posting about this one thing that happened to them once that was sexist. When the point of the wtf_* communities is more like "look at what I found in the media/on the internet/etc, WTF!?" The community has a lot of drama, especially because people keep arguing whether or not something is sexist or not and what about sexism towards men and blah blah blah. Even then, the community occasionally has good finds, and the more people are aware of these issues, the better.

Aside from my Friends-list (which I consider a community of my own making), I am only active in brievenbus. Lots of fun, even though I am one of the few (or even the only) man on there.
I used to do Postcrossing, but that was only fun when I made stamps to make postcards with.
